Mahonia

Despite vigorous pruning, the mahonia is flowering well, and it is very welcome on these gloomy days. Strangely it smells strongly like Lily of the Valley.
I’ve baked a chocolate cake today for George’s birthday. The family are joining us tomorrow to go out to lunch for a birthday celebration. I don’t do much baking these days as N and I are having to cut down on all the tasty things like cakes and biscuits.
