Opossum Creek Falls
Today was the monthly ladies hike where we journeyed to Opossum Creek Falls, a moderately strenuous hike that was a total of 5 miles round trip. And strenuous means that the hills were steep going up and down. The ankle held up fine but the lungs were screaming for me to breathe deeper. I am sure everyone's heart rate was at the max except maybe for our guide, Dan and one of the other ladies who is a runner.
I loved the hike though and the scenery was great. We got to follow the creek most of the trail and made a turn where the creek widens and flows into the Chattooga River. We then walked up hill about 3/10ths of a mile, had to rock hop over the creek (yeah me! as this was a little scary as the water was rolling fast), then a short climb to the bottom of the falls.
A very long day, getting up at 5:30am, left at 6:15am to pick up the ladies who were meeting me for the ride up to the mountains. The drive up and back was about 6 hours total, then we spent about 3 hours hiking. So this girl is going to get a good hot soak for her old body and go to bed early! I will look at journals tomorrow! We had another hiker at the falls to take this photo of all of us as there was not a good flat rock that I could use with the self timer. He did a good job!
A few other scenes in the extras, the rock crossing the creek and the Chattooga River.
