Christmas Poinsettia
For the CLIC Sargent Christmas Carol Concert the stage is decorated with poinsettias, donated by Pentland Plants. After the concert these are sold off as first-come, first-served and in 2018 I was lucky enough to buy this one.
The red bracts eventually fell but the fact that it has survived this long is a small miracle. Recently it began to flower again with its distinctive red bracts, the result of photoperiodism, whereby the plant has been exposed to darkness for 12 consecutive hours for at least five consecutive days.
Let's hear it for those long winter nights!
