Eye to the Hills

After much scrieving in the FCYC minute book, I took myself off to have a nose about the Botanics. The poor clumps of snowdrops looked chilly and a bit desolate on the windswept ground so I retreated into Inverleith House which is hosting an exhibition by Siân Bowen inspired by 19th century RBGE herbarium specimens brought from India to Edinburgh and 17th century engravings from Hortus Malabaricus. That’s right, the Garden of Malabar. And actually, it’s lovely stuff.
But I was the only person there, along with three custodians.
If you were say, incensed by some aspect of life where funds are scarce and people suffering, and you wandered in, you may indeed wonder how such gorgeousness floats serenely along amongst us, while outside the world shivers and groans.
Aye, thought for the day.
