Sledging in Lickey Woods
This morning we togged up in several layers of clothing, slid the wellington boots on and ventured out into what has become the Arctic wilderness of Lickey Woods. Our aim was to get to the nearby village of Barnt Green to stock up on a few groceries, a newspaper and some more food for the garden birds.
It was a delightful walk. The snow may be a nuisance to many but it certainly turns the woods, which otherwise look rather dreary at this time of year, into a winter wonderland.
We arrived in Barnt Green only to find that the local Tesco store was closed because the staff couldn't get in, so no groceries. We did manage to get a newspaper and some suet pellets. The birds won't starve even if we do.
On the way home we walked past the Lickey Hills Visitor Centre. There is a stretch of slope here which makes a fine toboggan run after a snowfall. There were loads of people there today, all having a great time.
The weather is set to remain very cold all week, so I expect that white will be the dominant colour of my blips for several days to come :-).
