Spring pleasures
A very enjoyable visit.
Yesterday morning we drove early down to Stockport to take son and grandson out for lunch.
Later we went to stay the night in Bramhall with our friends P. and N. The evening was spent at a performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah where N.was singing in the 150 strong choir. An excellent performance with a large orchestra and very good soloists.
This blip is about this morning which we spent with P. and N. at the National Trust’s Dunham Massey House and Estate. It has a deer park, a huge parkland and two restaurants. But at this time of year the star attraction is the Winter Garden which has been under development for several years. The main shot is of white Irises with are gorgeous both in close up and in mass.
The extras show just a glimpse of the whole and include massed Snowdrops, Winter Aconites and Hamamelis mollis.
The cafe was good too. A real joy.
