Tree cutting saga

The electricity board finally got their way today and, despite our protests, cut several metres off the pine tree outside our block, as it had supposedly grown too close to the electricity cables. We've been trying to stop this happening for some years, as really the electricity cables should be put underground not left hanging in the street, and these trees are supposed to be protected, but the all-powerful state electricity board prevailed. Sad for us as now we see a lot more of the block opposite.
They made a right mess of the tree, and also wrecked a car belonging to one of our neighbours - they threw down the branches and some huge bits of trunk as they cut them, some straight onto the car parked below... smashing the windscreen and making a massive dent in the roof.
The neighbours called the police, who took about an hour to come, and then a certain amount of noisy dispute ensued.
Glad it wasn't our car, which we sometimes park in that spot!
