Slumbering seals

Woke up to clear skies and set off towards the coast as the sun rose. Stopped to pick up a Czech girl who wanted to see the same things as me so we trundled down the coast together looking at strange boulders and seals, which, if you weren’t looking carefully could also have been mistaken for strange boulders for all the action that was taking place. Mesmerising none the less with their big, soft eyes watching you much like your dog would.
The rainfall has been quite extensive with 60mm in 24hrs in some places, which is a serious amount of rain. Not surprisingly there are road closures to the North, South and West. Given that the ocean is to the East it seemed likely I wouldn’t be travelling far today so managed to book a room in a hostel in Dunedin. Bit of organising and then a stroll around all the familiar sounding streets.
