Mussels and muscles

It seemed rather appropriate that we had mussels for lunch today, as I have spent much of the day learning about the muscles of the human body as part of the study course I am doing.  Apologies for the image to those of you who do not like mussels!

As forecast, it has been wet and windy all day.  We've been lucky with our two dog walks, managing to chose times to go when there have been windows in the severity of the weather.  Merlin seemed to really enjoy having the wind in his ears, which sent them flying up in the air as he ran!

This evening we have watched one of the documentaries in the BBC4 series 'Storyville'.  The episode we watched was about Tracy Edwards and the first all-female crew she skippered in the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race.  The period covered by the programme was mid 1980s to 1990 and the level of prejudice against women shocked us both.  An excellent documentary, showing what strength, skill and utter determination those women had to prove the cynics wrong and not only finish the race and win the challenging Southern Ocean leg, but to also inspire future generations of women.
