Jet boating
With the rivers being in relatively poor condition and with few salmon about, we were in no rush to get out there.
So I pretty much went to work for the day with the plan of heading home early to head out to a jet boat rendezvous that a friend had arranged. It worked well, we left on time and pretty much made it to the boat soon after 5pm. Sadly however the bad weather arrived at exactly the same time and so we jet boated up the Waimak River Gorge in near sleeting conditions. Despite that, awesome fun and a simply fantastic guide (Clayton) with my dad and a good friend.
No fish, and we retuned 3 hours later cold, wet, and drinking beer telling stories of the fish we would have caught. Extraordinarily memorable, especially seeing the snow that fell on the hills while we were fishing.
Yes, maybe mad, but lots of fun!
