A lovely evening in the valley meant that it was a good opportunity to stretch the legs (and dodgy arthritic knees), so Jack and I headed up the road to see if we could spot an elusive native falcon on the wing, although I'm sure Jack would have been more interested in chasing rabbits...
Whilst we didn't see any of those amazing Karearea (although my neighbour had just a few hours previous to our walk up the hill) we did see some other slightly less desirable inhabitants; a stoat and a hedgehog. Yes, I know Mr Tiggywinkle and his like are cute, but tell that to native invertebrates.
On our way back down we stopped to take this shot whilst Jack 'watered' the roadside foliage.
In the beautiful golden light, 50kms from Christchurch, the working week seems a long way away. Lovely.
