Ferry from Kollam to Alleppy

We caught the tourist ferry to Alleppy which travels the lakes and inland waterways linking the two. We passed Chinese fishing nets so typical of this area. They are lowered at night and bright lights shone on the water to attract the fish. The little hut process shelter for the fisherman.
We passed many sea fishing boats tied up. They all had mean looking pointed bows.
We had to wait for the tide to go down at the lock as one set of gates was not in operation. Only one of the other set could open so it was a squeeze to get though. Novel approach !
Needless to say we were an hour and a half late but it was a good trip.
