raining crystals

first day off..and im stiffening up nicely..two 12 hour days of sitting on my duff in the office and three 12 hour days on my feet in the yard have just about killed me off. So nice it was to go round fleet ponds... sun came out today coupled with the snowny winter landscape made for a beautiful place to be. There was a couple of guys walking round the ponds with their squillion pound cameras ..dedicated twitchers i think, certainly one was with his camouflage jacket on too boot...why are they called twitchers?? a nervous affliction bought on by peering through binoculars too much ?? had a nice chat with him,,very pleasant.. asked me what id seen ,, and told me what he`d seen. i "winged" it of course...my bird knowledge really dont extend that far,, then there were the walking general public..one remarked on my camera... if it were me i would have asked, is that a 500 mm sigma or you just pleased to see me.. they were more civilized and and just said i must be able to see the moon clearly with that .. (referring to the camera and lens of course) my par de la resistance was to get lost going round he lake, its simple ,, keep the lake on the left and you get back to where ya started,, what could go wrong .. anyway my inbuilt compass failed me.. a hour and a half later came back the way i went out ...opps.... the detour was nice though,, they ve put in new paths there hence my lack of direction..it took me through a corridor of lovely pines with the icey snow gently falling from the trees and the sun glinting them resulted in a pretty sparkly rain effect.. very nice.. tranquil..
school run was a bit more chaotic with the snow and ice. the car park resembled a skating rink.. woe behold you if you faced downhill part of the car park in a BMW .. opps bex... think others learnt from this and parked in another car park round the corner .with the same problem this afternoon..after the skating on ice show we took the girls to their swimming lessons.. they done really well .. ali asked me to put her phone in her pocket.. a button on the pocket found the screen on the phone.... death toll.. one phone.. missing in action.. one Dora the explorer bag of siobhans kit she knew not where she left it.. result one highly stressed Mrs W .. so have done her a huge G and T ...hopefully that will anesthetise her ... so ends today ...
