MANY Skimmers and Terns

I went to a beach where there are usually a large "herd" of skimmers, terns, and gulls. But, they are a strange "herd."

I hit the beach, and I saw them...maybe a quarter mile away. I walked up to them, took two pictures of them on the beach, and then they broke into this mass exodus. I snapped away, and the flock flew down to the spot where I first hit the beach. Are you serious?

The skimmer is a hard bird to get a good picture of. Their black head covers up their black eyes.

In the Extras is a closeup of a skimmer, and a closeup of a shaking tern. I went to the beach expecting bathing birds, but they never did get into the water.
