The Beak Gets the Bill

Usually when I see an osprey eating a fish, it is a sea trout or a sheepshead. I'm not up on my fish, but this thin little guy had quite a bill...like a mini-swordfish.

It didn't take long for Alice the osprey to rip off the bill, and tear into the meat. I took MANY pictures of her.

Later, I caught a glimpse of a redhead. IT WAS A PILEATED WOODPECKER! It was a little too far away for me, but still exciting to see. The picture is in the Extras.
