Thoughts Of Spring

Wonderful sunshine after yesterday's snow storm. Avoiding the harsh light, I went out later, towards sunset, when the sun was low in the sky making long shadows across the snow picking out decaying vegetation in the meadow.

I liked the shadows created by undulations in the snow and the crevices where the stalks emerge. But I suppose it's the shape that attracted me and the contrasting lines of the stems against the crystalline white snow.

I'm looking forward to the spring, maybe a month away yet, when the snow melts and a new year begins.
