A place in time

Belated

A family meal tonight to (belatedly) celebrate Mr A's milestone birthday on New Year's Eve...and to honour Mr A Sr, who would have been 91 today.  In previous years Mr A had gathered the family together for a blow-out meal...but we are a very small family and some of the youngsters now live further afield (Bolton & Cardiff), so this was our way of carrying on his tradition.

We met up at the Beefeater in Farnham, since this was central for all of us - Mr A Jnr from Alton, my Mum from Church Crookham, Mr A's sister and B-I-L from Blackwater and us from Guildford.  So I reckon it was a distance of probably 10 miles for each of us.

The restaurant was incredibly busy, presumably being an evening during half-term, so I suspect many families there with children may have been staying in the attached Premier Inn.  The service was quite slow (unusual for this restaurant) although the food was great, but since it was a family get-together we were quite happy with that as it meant we had plenty of time to catch up.

Anyway, the only pictures taken were of the light above the table - looking up, or the unusual mirrors in the ladies loo.  So I thought the light would be more appropriate!

Thought for the day:

""Other things may change us, but we start and end with the family."  (Anthony Brandt)
