Look Up
Exiting Waverley Station onto Princes Street used to mean slogging up a long flight of rather grotty steps, usually to be met with an icy blast of wind as you emerged at the side of the North British Hotel.
Now there's a lift and an escalator (and there are still steps for the hardy), all covered by a glass roof (which could do with a clean). The North British has become the Balmoral and it has a had a good clean. The wind, however, still gets you as you step out onto the street, and in spite of the brilliant sunshine today, the bast was still icy.
I ascended by escalator, so was able to point my phone up at the side elevation of the NB. I'd never noticed how elaborate it is.
I hadn't been on a train journey, just taking a short cut from the High Street to the Apple shop to browse the iPads ....... couldn't decide which to go for. I hope I can decide before my old one gives up the ghost.
