More about Lopping...

Further to my Blip about Thomas Willingale, today’s photo is of the door to Lopping Hall and the extra the blue plaque that explains that the Hall was built as compensation for the loss of Lopping rights in Epping Forest. Not quite sure how a hall replaces the wood that they used to collect to heat their houses. More research on this needed. I do love the detail on the door that shows someone actually lopping.
