Fenland Travels - Day 3

Cambs Lock Antiques & Collectables, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

Storm Jorge arrived in the early hours of the morning, but by 10am the rain had stopped though the gales continued for the rest of the day, and what a bitter wind it was. The thermometer said 8 degrees, but it felt more like -8!

Once the rain had stopped, and blue skies had started to appear, we headed out for a few hours, travelling east to Huntingdon, birth place of Oliver Cromwell, where we had a quick look around the antiques centre (I bought another perfume bottle), and an even quicker look around the town, where the Sealed Knot were preparing to recreate the trial of King Charles I (January 1649) in one of the historic courtrooms in Huntingdon Town Hall. From Huntingdon it was on to a nearby garden centre to get out of the wind and warm up with a cuppa, before a quick stop at Houghton Mill to see how high the River Great Ouse was after all the rain, high! (extra no2, and probably the best pic of the day, I may switch to main pic) Thankfully the river hadn’t burst it banks along the stretch where the road we took was below water level! (extra  no3)
