Change of use

N and I (but mainly N) have been excavating around and within the walls of a ruin in our garden. The plan is to construct a fruit cage within the walls of the old house. We badly need an area where we can grow some soft fruits protected from the birds. Also, the remains of the old walls will help to provide a bit of shelter from the winds that come our way. It's a long hard job but we hope to have it up and running by this summer.

The first extra shows a closer look at the structure of the wall: two parallel lines of large stones (how on earth did they manage to move some of these giants?) in-filled with rubble.

The second extra shows some of the things we have found during the excavations.

We have had some lovely sunshine today so I was pleased to get some gardening done.
