Marcel...

... wave.

It was July 1939, my mum was 11 and a half, and my granny's French friend - a hairdresser - had given my mum a Marcel wave. The two women then decided the event deserved a professional photo so off they went to a studio in St Andrew's Square.

So here's my mum as a Hollywood starlet.
