New York Rain
The rain came on today in SoHo, as we lunched in a place called The Dutch, corner of Sullivan Street, one down from Houston St.
I like New York eateries with their dark light . . . small candles on wooden tables or dark-topped bars, with only the odd glow from a subtle lamp somewhere in the background.
I also like this kind of scene. We had to buy an umbrella from this newsagents, at least they had them!
We decided to start our day at an address where we once stayed many years ago on the corner of 1st Street with 1st Avenue - a Hari Krishna hostal (it no longer has rooms) complete with temple and which was, then, somewhat of a surprise to us as we had just booked on the basis of its low room price!
No blue skies today, so we were grateful to pop into various trendy shops and, also, Café Habana, in the corner of Prince with Elizabeth - see Dd on the bar stool in extras.
Supper was in the bar of another hotel, called 1 Hotel, just out the back of our place, after a couple of hours watching American tv . . . nearly every ad is for a medicine for an ailment I didn’t know exists but, looking at the age profile of the actors in the spots, must just be around the corner!
