Traveller's Tree

This impressive plant is growing just outside our hotel room. It is more than three storeys high and has enormous leaves. It's proper name is Ravenala madagascariensis, commonly known as the Traveller's Tree or Traveller's Palm. Originally from Madagascar, it is not actually a true palm, but a member of a family of flowering plants.
