The SBBA Piano

Up in Perth yesterday for the national brass band championships.  First time I've played in a contest with the Peebles band for 25 years.  Also the first time I've played in Perth's new concert hall.  Great acoustic - the band has never sounded so good.

For some reason there was a grand piano on stage at one point..  not sure its a common band instrument.

Anyway, we came away with 3rd place - by a point.  The bass trombone was described by the judge as "great" - so I was happy.  Also the first time I've played bass trombone :)

Some players thought we should have come higher up - but there's a strong element of subjective assessment in these things.  We'll probably play the test piece (Neverland) at our next concert, so you can come along and see what you think if you're in the area.
