Coot

I had a quick trip to Southchurch Park today as it has firm (not muddy!) paths and a pleasant lake with ducks, plenty of seagulls, a swan or two and coots. I like coots as they always seem to be having a go at each other this time of year, with loads of chasing about the place. Today was no different and the one in the photo was chasing another off the lake. As for photographing them, they are a step up from seagulls for me and seem to move much quicker when "running" across the water or flying... this photo isn't quite sharp and more practice is needed to get anywhere near an acceptable hit rate! It's great fun though :)
