The Princess and the Dog

Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,

We decided to go to Clifton and see the suspension bridge but we had to Uber (2 miles) as The Prince didn’t fancy walking up the “massive”hill/didn’t have the right boots/was hungover and in denial!

The Uber drivers down here are so friendly. I swear that every one of them has been like a tourist guide, pointing out interesting places and giving us a bit of their life history. The guy who took us to the train station was completely barking. He told us that his wife is upset as their daughter has recently moved to Canada, “so I just told my daughter - you’ve ruined my life. Innit?”!

My suggestion of continuing our sightseeing and going to the observatory to see Giant’s cave was swiftly rejected by The Prince who was fading and we jumped on a train Cardiff to find other disappointed Scottish people to drink with!

Cardiff was absolutely jumping! A get better beer later and The Prince was on great form. We bumped into Victor and Penny’s best friends in the first bar we walked into and then joined Boots and his contingent in Revolution for a few drinks.

I bloody loved it. All of the signs are in both English and Welsh. So many Welsh accents. It was heaven!

We got very pleasantly merry and found a lovely little restaurant for dinner before heading back to Bristol*. The Prince located the train station by stopping someone with “Hi, you look Welsh. Is the train station this way?” as I was doubled up behind him.

We had a brilliant day and there was only one last moment of “I just can’t believe the game was cancelled” which was quickly silenced by my rendition of “Let it Go.”

*Announcement on tannoy at train station (in Welsh accent): “the train arriving at platform 3 is terminating and is NOT for public use. Don’t touch it. Don’t EVEN look at it”
