On the Ropes

I know this is a green heron, but I don't know if it's a male or a female. So, here's a limerick for both.

MALE
The handsome heron's name is Gene,
of the heron family of green.
Won't say he's a dope,
but he sat on the rope,
instead of partaking in preen.

FEMALE
The pretty heron's name is Trish,
and I gave her my photog wish.
"DO A GREEN HERON LURCH...
GET YOURSELF OFF THE PERCH...
DIP DOWN FOR A SUPPER OF FISH!"

He (or she) did neither, but...

He (or she) was not a hoser,
but he (or she) was quite a poser.
