Spring blossoms

Well we knew it was coming - probably spurred on by the irresponsible behaviour of those idiots disregarding social distance requirements on the weekend, here we are in an effective 'lock down', similar to many other countries around the world. Thankfully we are allowed out once a day for exercise and so of course my form of exercise was a walk with Xena in the woods this morning. There were only a handful of people there, and when I saw someone approach in the distance I turned and walked another way so I never got close to anyone. At one point Xena had a lovely play with a friendly labradoodle, and it's owner and I stood at opposite ends of the path, about 35m apart.

After a wet and dreary winter, the weather is finally turning with bright sunshine and so it is good that we are allowed out to enjoy this fine weather.

Gavin left home at 5.30am this morning to drive to the office to clear out the fridges and ensure everything was shut down as needed to be. He was back home by 8.00am again and has been working from home. There have been further reports of crowded tubes and trains again this morning and I would not be surprised if London has tighter controls implemented.

In terms of the lockdown certain shops are allowed to stay open - supermarkets and other food shops, health shops, pharmacies, petrol stations, garages, car rentals, bicycle shops, home and hardware shops, laundrettes and dry cleaners, pet shops, corner shops, newsagents, post offices, and banks. Fortunately I have enough dog food as I believe there has also been a shortage of that, and all online shopping is still allowed. I am sure this will all be reviewed daily.

I am rather enjoying the lack of traffic and quiet roads at the moment, and am enjoying the lovely spring flowers, like this blossom I saw on my walk this morning.
