Figure of speech

A friend of mine, Adrean, took me to play dodgeball. Considering I had not played since elementary school, I was probably the worst player on the court. The fact that all the players were guys didn't help, because no one wanted to throw at me (Adrean assured me it was because everyone feared him and they didn't want to hurt the girl he brought. Sureeee....! ;)) Despite all that, I had a lot of fun and everyone was super nice.
