Castle

I love the unassuming nature of Kendal Castle. It sits above the town without ever dominating it. It’s easy to forget it’s there, but it’s always just over your shoulder or lurking behind a building. And it’s a special place. There’s a feeling of serenity, of peacefulness and calm. Of history without expectation.

There it is at the top of this below average photo. I took this around three o’clock as we walked for an hour in the deserted streets of the town. Earlier I’d driven along the empty M6 to the hospital at Lancaster. Everywhere was empty today. Which is good. For now.
