Update on the situation in Singapore for my (Dutch) son and his (Japanese) fiancee, who are expecting their first child in September , who were going to come to The Netherlands together to settle and have the child here, but who are not allowed now to travel together, neither to Japan nor The Netherlands with the current Covid-19 travel restrictions for foreigners, if there are even any flights. The problem being that as they are not married nor registered as partners they are not seen as a couple by the authorities, even when they're expecting a child together.

Because they and we were sent from pillar to post and back contacting embassies and governmental services and because Singapore seems the safest place to be right now Dick has asked for and gotten his job back, but Fumiko's Japanese insurance company won't take her back, as they say they wouldn't know how long she would still stay and they wouldn't be able to take on a new person for her job meanwhile. Fumiko worked for the Japanese Tourist Bureau in Tokyo and Singapore before, speaks fluent English and Russian, has organised big events, accompanied sports teams at the Olympics in Sochi etc.

In order to be able to stay in Singapore with Dick until this Covid-19 crisis is over (and most probably until the baby is born) she will need either a temporary job or obtain a medical overstay visa, which won't be easy, even in these strange times. Let's just say it would be so much better if she could have a temporary job. So I've sent pleas for help everywhere today. And am so worried for them ...
