Frozen Lake
The current cold spell has lasted two weeks now and it is a week since the big snowfall. I find snow most attractive for only a brief period after it has fallen, when it covers the branches of all the trees. Normally either wind or milder weather quickly removes it all from the trees. But this week it has been so cold and still, the woods are looking almost as delightful as they did last Friday.
The lake behind the Rose and Crown at Lickey is home to many ducks, gulls, coots and geese. I felt sorry for them today all huddled together beside the one tiny part of the lake not completely frozen. It is particularly sad for them at the moment because usually plenty of people visit the lake to feed them, but at the moment it is fenced off for renovation work that was due to take place this month.
