South Farm Walking
Another day, another walk on the South Farm.
Had a heated discussion with Veronika over why people go to college, and what are the majors that are worthy of study, vs. which ones are a waste of time. Her thinking is very practical: if you are unable to find a job in your field after graduation, you picked a wrong field. She sees sociology, political science, philosophy degrees, etc., as a waste of time. Her thinking is directly dictated by the fact, that she wants her sons to succeed, make money, and live happily ever after. She is a recent immigrant who, for the past 10 years, faced moderate to severe financial difficulties on daily basis. While I understand her point of view, I don't entirely agree with her.
If everybody majored in mechanical engineering, there would be no jobs in it either.
And art, poetry and literature might start lacking... :-)
