8pm saying thank you
At 8pm today in Scotland the thank you to those carrying us all just now, medical, caring, and all essential workers, was to be marked by bagpipers. Sadly there are no pipers in our street, but our neighbour was there with his football rattle.
It's great to see that even on the main road out of Edinburgh, where the sheer volume of traffic can make community difficult, we were there. Including the lady across the road, a good ten years older than me, who has a recently broken and dislocated shoulder. Nice to see each other even from a distance. The cars tooted and shouted encouragement (I presume) as they went past.
Today started quietly, it looked too cold to do any gardening this morning by early afternoon though things were better. I was delighted that our garden waste bin was collected today as we missed the last collection a fortnight ago. This evening they've announced there will be no more collections for the foreseeable future. I've already got another bin's worth already but it's just going to have to wait.
I sowed some lettuce seeds this morning so they are on the kitchen window sill to get started, I've soaked some peas and will plant them up tomorrow.
I did a small amount of weeding then gave up for the day and came in.
Last weekend's chicken bit the dust today with a chicken fricassee and the rest made into stock and a pie of soup.
Stay in and keep well everybody and keep safe. Thank you for dropping by my journal
