Three monkeys

I stumbled on a small bureaucratic change I have big views on. I think it's ableist, others don't. It was fought for months. Yesterday, we lost.

I'm sad we lost, but I'm sadder that people who'll get angry will never know we stood, opposed in solidarity. They were seen.
It made me think of my mentors - parents, siblings, partners, teachers - who lost silent battles, failing to hold back unfair things that could cause hurt.

I'm sorry I didn't see you battle at the time. I’m sorry all I did was grumble when the waves crashed over you onto me.
