Litter lesson

I heard somebody say they don't understand how people are still smoking while there's this respiratory disease doing the rounds. I found myself agreeing.

Later on I spoke with somebody in South Africa where currently you cannot buy alcohol or cigarettes. They expressed empathy for people addicted to these, who might be struggling with the sudden jolt of forced abstinence. It's not easy. They said you have to prepare yourself mentally.

I was so humbled by that compassionate view, and grateful for the person who gave it.
