Imperial Palace Roof Statues
[Try it large, looks pretty good. Even if I do say so myself]
One of the things I love about Vienna is the architecture, especially in the historic centre of the city. It's just full of amazingly grand and ornate old buildings, one after the other. Another facet of Vienna is the number of statues in public places; they love their statues, especially of men on horses. I lost count of how many man-on-horse statues I saw this weekend. Vienna must hold the record for that.
Anyway, they often combine their love of grand old architecture and statues by placing very ornate statues on the top of buildings. It pays to look up to the rooflines in this city, you'll see some amazing sights. This is just an extract from the roofline of the Imperial Palace at Hofburg, the old city centre area.
Oh and the sky was beautifully blue most of the day today. So that had to be in shot ;-)
(was still bone-chillingly cold, mind you)
