Photos from A Field

It seemed ok till I wrote it down.

These days life seems to consist of work, then I come home late. Eat a bit, play a game or watch a movie, then sleep.

Oddly the simple pleasures are gaining more meaning in life.

Like this. I wake early and let her sleep.
I turn on the radio and listen to the funeral announcements from the area I used to live. (Sometimes I know the families mentioned!)

As that plays, I make some toast from the bread she made me, with real butter. Some strong tea or coffee, depending on my mood that early in the day. And some form of cereal.

As the death announcements play, I eat my breakfast listening for old friends or their families who have gone on to their reward.

What an odd thing to do, I think as I write it down. But really as they still say in the town where I lived, “Your not really dead until they announce it on the radio.”
