Another Day, Another Walk
The exercise today was a walk down Holyrood Road to the Palace passing on the way the city’s mortuary and streets with old town names like Dumbiedykes , round the Dynamic Earth building and back by Calton Road , Princes Street Gardens and the Meadows.
The only people I saw on the way out were two groups of what looked like winos enjoying a social get together heedless of the distance protocol.
There were a few more pedestrians near Princes Street but distance was observed at all times.
I was home just after 11am, but with a certain degree of cabin fever, the time since then seems extra long despite a WhatsApp chat with a neighbour on lockdown in Majorca in their second home, and a fleeting visit from Porty daughter on her wheels with a present of home made fudge. She was on a humanitarian cycle run round Edinburgh gifting fudge to her father and to me.
I’ll need all the fudge I can get to keep my sweet tooth happy for another 12 weeks.
I decided to make my main blip the columns at the door of the Crown Office in Chamber Street because they remind me of my sculptor son-in-law who died last year. He worked on the stone roses when the building was renovated several years ago. The extra blip is a collage of sights on today’s walk
