Birthday Craft
My father and my (soon to be 9yo) niece share a birthday, coming very soon, so today it was time to fashion our cards wishing extra comfort in these Covid-19 times. They live in Tasmania and are planning to be a little bit naughty on the big day (Easter Monday). My parents will leave their quarantine prison (their age group is meant to stay strictly confined) and drive to visit my sister, albeit sitting outside in the brisk sea air while my sister and her daughters wave through the French windows from the comfort of the kitchen. Can’t wait to hear how it goes!
My daughter made her cousin a Harry Potter themed card (both are confirmed pottyheads) while I made fun of our prime minister by referencing his favorite catchphrase and leisure pastime. (My dad and son must have actually completed this puzzle nearly ten years ago).We were both pretty pleased with our efforts!
A lovely Sunday, although desperately tired all day and limited by my still aching thumb! Lots of isolation style socialising - we played Dixit with my sister over a French gaming platform, with skype chat, and then my book club met over Houseparty, enough for two rooms. My son observed there didn’t seem much discussion of books, but not many had managed to get there hands on Time is a Killer. We’re all good friends from our children’s primary school days, and it was fantastic catching up on how everyone was doing.
Other than that, lots of good eating too. Waffles and home made chocolate sauce for breakfast, smoked salmon pasta for lunch, and cotechino with lentils followed by flourless orange cake for dessert.
And now the children are heading off for bed and I won’t be much longer, although we are quite gripped by The Capture and I guess another episode is in store.
