LOCK DOWN – DAY 15

Handy hint – We've been meaning to share this 'handy hint' for about a week now but keep forgetting........................... If you have to press a pedestrian crossing button or a lift button or a communal door button or any kind of communal button; use your thumb, not your finger. (Photo of Ann demonstrating this in extras) The reason being; you are less likely to touch your face with your thumb. We haven't heard of anyone else suggesting this could this be the best bit of Coronavirus safety advice ever? and as we have to cross 4 pedestrian crossings on the way to the park, Ann suddenly came to the conclusion that this was a good thing to do. After all, humans are always touching their faces without realising it and if you think about it..................... you actually have to consciously turn your thumb to touch your face.



Anyway I went to the park first thing this morning and then for the next four hours Ann just sat on the balcony doing puzzles in trashy magazines. Whenever Ann goes outside I always lie outside with her. Unfortunately she opened the balcony door before she was ready to go out, so I went out for a little play by myself. We've got hardly any plants on the balcony because she doesn't feel that going shopping for plants can be considered as 'essential going out' which means that some of our pots are just filled with soil. I had a lovely time 'digging' for 10 mins and when Ann did appear on the balcony I got into big, big, trouble. Oh dear!!!



And then this afternoon I went for an 'on my lead' walk around the Meadows. For anyone who doesn't know Edinburgh....................... the Meadows is a massive grassy area in the centre of town. It's always busy and today was no exception. However, we managed to stay 2m away from anyone else but the question we have is............................ As part of one's daily exercise outside, is one allowed to sit down and enjoy the sunshine? Most of the residences around the 'Meadows' are tenement flats with no outdoor space and on such a nice day people obviously want to get out and feel a bit of sun on their skin. Most of the seats had people on them albeit only one or two and there were also lone people sitting on the grass. But, is this allowed? Obviously there's not enough police to move everyone on if it's not, but we're just curious as to the answer, as although we suspect sitting alone on a bit of grass is Ok; a seat is a hard surface and as such could be harbouring the virus??????



Fortunately we are lucky enough to have our own little outside space for sitting in the sunshine, even if I do, do naughty things like digging in the pots.
