The Hidden River by the Rest Stop

Another hot day and just for a change we thought we'd go to Turangi for groceries rather than the usual Taihape New World.

I had another reason for heading north instead of south - to stop at this rest stop to take a photo of this river. Its a lovely scenic spot and most people stopping probably don't realize it's here unless they walk around and wonder 20 m away from the rest area. It is very unfortunate however that amongst the bushes as you head for this spot there is all manner of rubbish strewn about. It saddens me that people can go to bed at night not caring that they made this picturesque spot less appealing......Kiwis in general I've found can take the land they live on for granted, particularly if they haven't travelled much.

I'm thinking of making up a sign.......Maybe it will trigger the guilt conscience in some if they think about littering and they see the sign!
