Teeming!
Empty roads, empty paths, empty beaches, empty town (so I hear, haven't been there) but when I stuck my face into a clump of ivy-leaved toadflax I was amazed to find it as busy as a Saturday night in Soho.
These are hairy shieldbugs (no, I can't see the hairs either). There are three in this picture but the whole plant and all the others were alive with them, just emerged from hibernation with a huge appetite for food and sex. (Another image in extra.)
We're hoping here in Pembrokeshire that it won't be teeming over this coming Easter weekend. Irate posts on social media report second home owners and hopeful holiday makers using secret Facebook messages to share directions on how to slip into Wales via back lanes, unseen by the police who are parked up major road junctions in order to turn them back. Local people have been urged to report the presence of suspected outsiders.
Normally this would be the start of the holiday season and visitors would be welcomed with open arms and plates of Welsh cakes.
