Blencathra
It seemed a bit non-stop today. I got out just before it got dark this evening to take this last look at Blencathra and met Karen, someone else from the village who I’ve never met before. She talked about her daughter who has just qualified in medicine down in London and of the nurses there in intensive care. When I got home I was just in time to join the clapping which reverberated around the village this evening with everyone feeling the death of one of the community and another in a critical condition.
This morning I had to call in the office and tried to get milk on my way but there were long queues at all the shops. I didn’t have time so gave up.
I really enjoyed my quickly thrown together soup of wild garlic, nettle, potato, mushrooms and a few anchovies with some homemade soda bread.
