Went for our 20 minute wander up at Cairnpapple.

Louie the Dog worked his magic and got us in free - as opposed to last time when we were stung £4 each... (Mental note - must try taking him to the cinema.)

From a distance I thought the thing pictured was a set of bagpipes stuck in the ground - hurled there by some unnapreciative listener perhaps... Or even a Zomby Celt rising from his tomb to catch the bus to Waverly to play Highland Cathedral really badly.

But no... (as the edukated lady from Historic Scotland explained). It's a Clootie Tree which is some pagan, celtic wishing tree. (wishing not washing). - I did wonder if it was anything like my shoe tree.

She went on to say that a previous Clootie Tree had been chopped down by vandals - believed to have been done as a Chrisitian protest... But this web site seems to think that it just got used for firewood in a Beltane fire.

Which was probably more of a pissed up thing.

Any hoo. Have a good weekend Blippers. (Drink aware an all that...)
