Another quiet day at home in glorious weather. I spent some time stalking the wren/s and also realised that a little bird I nearly got an amazing picture of yesterday was a goldcrest. There's a less amazing picture of it from today in Extras. Try to imagine the white stuff on the pine as snow and it could almost be a Christmas card ;)

In other news, I now have an identification for the mystery insect on 7 April: it's a golden dung fly! With thanks to Daniel Wisler on Flickr for putting me out of my misery.
