When the ordinary....isn't
Well who'd have thought that the sight of an ordinary passenger plane going over with contrails would be something special to make me look up! We still get the military aircraft practicing in the area every few weeks, but passenger planes are now few and far between. Another glorious day. For my MK friends daily challenge I did a ‘R for recording artists’ quiz - I was worried when they didn’t get the first two answers, but fortunately I did most of the answers covering the 1960’s and 70’s and it picked up!
Loved the story on the news about army veteran Captain Tom Moore who's 100 at the end of April and is raising money for NHS Charities Together by attempting 100 laps of his garden using his walking frame before his birthday.
Day 27 / Day 19 of Lockdown (for my record only)
UK deaths up 917 to 9,875, Italy up 619 to 19,468, Spain up 510 to 16,353 (lowest increase in 18 days). US records over 2,000 deaths in a single day and over 20,000 deaths in total. The WHO warns of a 'deadly resurgence' in infections if restrictions are lifted too early. The WHO also said that it took more than 3 months to reach the first 100,000 confirmed cases and less than a week for the number to double from half to 1 million.
The PM continues to make 'good progress' in hospital, Daily briefing led by the Home Secretary (first woman to do so). Total crime down 21% but concerns over domestic and child abuse and fraud. 1,084 fines issued to individuals for breaching lockdown requirements (is that all?). UK agrees to give £200M to developing countries to help combat CV.
