Bitter Sweet
Not my plan for Easter Sunday but like so much of our lives it was all change for today. Easter bunny duties were undertaken early doors before even a peep for the rest of the family.
Another day of work, but a very different day from yesterday. Away from the inversion injuries from running, the punch injuries from those foolish moments, the kids tumbling over, and back to Leeds where most of our workload is Covid related. I'm thankful for a good team to get us through the day and the generosity of local businesses keeping us well fed, but the reality of the situation is scary, it takes time for swab results to come back, but an xray is often an instant indicator for covid; the changes we see on images come at a frightening pace; the isolation patients are required to be in is heart breaking, and the recently widowed lady who had fallen in her attempt to keep her home clean and virus free makes you want to cry. Thankfully just a nasty bruise.
On the plus side over 100 covid patients treated at the trust have recovered and gone home, and it's always good to see the stories in the news and on social media of those that have recovered.
It was a relief to take my mask off at the end of the day and breathe in the fresh, cool evening air. And how much nicer the air is without the regular volume of traffic.
The kids brought my smile back with their lovely Easter cards and picture left for me to open when I got home. Worth a stack of Easter eggs. (I did get chocolate too though!)
And we have Jacob's Simnel cake to cut in to.
Happy Easter to you all #stayhomestaysafe
