Room with a View!

.. from our bedroom, this afternooon.

Some of you will have followed the saga of the marquee erected over a tennis court, that was in full view of one of our bedroom windows. I explained how the eyesore had been taken away during the course of last week, Today's view shows a further improvement. Compare this with the earlier pictures, especially this one! The tall lamp-posts for the tennis-court lighting ar still in place, of course, but the rainbow is dazzling (and I hope that you can make out the secondary bow). I like this view much better than that of the big tent.

Of course, rainbows mean sun and rain, and that's the kind of day it was. We got soaked a bit earlier in a downpour when we were messing around in town. But we had a lot of fun in a novel and unexpected street market with exhibition stands proselytising various green issues. We were attracted there by a great noise of drums being bashed. Here is a picture of the street scene with the musicians slowly advancing (on me!) The percussionists were both noisy and skilful, playing in the style of the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar (the national youth orchestra of Venezuela), famous product of El Sistema (a publicly financed voluntary sector music education program in Venezuela, founded in 1975).

We found in the street market stalls selling artisan breads and other foodstuffs. We picked up our lunch of a slice of delicious game terrine (venison, rabbit & pheasant) at one of them. Never did the pied piper work so effectively in bringing us somewhere interesting and rewarding!
